How Educational Leaders Might Use Blogs

It is 2013, why not blog? Blogs are a great way to share ideas with others, not to mention it's free. Educational leaders could use blogs to post events happening in the school. Parents, teachers and community members could access this information at any time and respond if need be. Blogging invites more members into the conversation. It allows others to have an opinion and to share it. I believe the main purpose of a blog is to reflect on current issues, happenings, and concerns with the ability to respond.

What I Have Learned About Action Research

I have learned that action research or administrative inquiry occurs in a school setting. It is a reflective process that allows for inquiry and discussion as components of the “research.” It is often a collaborative activity among colleagues searching for solutions to everyday problems happening in schools, such as ways to improve instruction or increase student achievement. Action research allows specialists to make decisions in the operation of schools. The purpose of action research is to solve practical problems, improve practice. The primary audience is members of the school. The process assists educators in assessing the needs, documenting the steps of inquiry, analyzing data, and making informed decisions that lead to anticipated outcomes. Action Researchers look at what they themselves are or should be doing, reflect on what they are thinking and feeling, and seek creative ways to improve how they are behaving. In other words, action research is reflection and inquiry conducted by educators who want to improve their own practice.
